Embroidery

Computer embroidery, manual embroidery and adda work — three distinct production methods.

What we offer

Embroidery is a specialty of ours, delivered in three clearly different ways: computerized machine embroidery, machine embroidery operated manually by a person, and adda work done entirely by hand on a frame. A single piece can combine more than one.

  • Computer Embroidery — digitised, machine-executed
  • Manual Embroidery — operator-controlled machine
  • Adda Work — entirely by hand on a frame

Computer Embroidery

A design is digitised once and then executed by a computerized embroidery machine. Covers thread embroidery (satin, tatami/fill, running stitch, lettering, logos, monograms, motifs), 3D/puff and other special effects (cording, chenille, cutwork, eyelet), sequin and embellishment embroidery, appliqué, patches, badges and emblems, and placement embroidery across panels, sleeves, collars, cuffs, yokes, dupattas, sarees and full garments.

  • Thread embroidery — satin, tatami, lettering & logos
  • 3D/puff, cording, chenille & cutwork
  • Sequin & embellishment embroidery
  • Appliqué, patches, badges & emblems

Manual Embroidery (Machine Operated)

A person manually operates the embroidery machine — this is NOT hand embroidery and NOT computerized embroidery. Because the production method is different, pricing, craftsmanship and capability differ from computer embroidery too. Covers basic thread embroidery, zari and metallic thread work, chain-stitch/aari-type machine work, sequin and decorative work, and appliqué and pattern work — all done on an operator-controlled machine.

  • Basic thread embroidery
  • Zari & metallic thread work
  • Chain / aari-type machine work
  • Sequin, appliqué & pattern work

Adda Work

Fabric is stretched taut on a wooden frame (the "adda") so artisans can hand-work zardozi and metal embellishment (dabka, kora, kasab, pitta, tilla, nakshi), aari/maggam work, bead, cutdana, stone and crystal work, gota patti, dori and mirror work, and heavy bridal/couture pieces such as lehengas, bridal blouses and sherwanis. No machine of any kind is involved.

  • Aari / Maggam work
  • Zardozi & metal work — dabka, kora, tilla
  • Bead, cutdana, stone & crystal work
